Mary Mullan

A highly creative Award-winning filmmaker. She has a passion for drama and comedy. She is also a visual effects compositor.

Mary Mullan studied film at the National Film School in Ireland (IADT). She graduated with a distinction in her Diploma, and went on to specialise in Direction in her Degree year. Her graduate film, Tongue, won the UK Fuji Scholarship award based on the screenplay and the final film won best art direction and sound in competition with 35 colleges throughout the UK.

She went on to win an Irish Film Board/RTE Short Cuts award for her film Homeboy, which she directed. She also directed a short film Jack, which she adapted from a short story. All three of her short films have been shown on television and at festivals worldwide and won prizes.

She studied a masters in screenwriting at London College of Communication and a masters in computer animation at London Metropoliton University.

After a number of years working in media production for TV, film and commercials companies including Channel 4, Grand Pictures/Babycow, AETN UK, Nickelodeon International and RSA Films; she moved into working in visual effects as a digital compositor:

Her credits include the oscar winning Interstellar, The French Dispatch, The Book of Boba Fett and John Wick 4.

She produced, directed and edited a one hour feature film The Bench. Following a successful run at film festivals in 2017, it was distributed on Amazon Prime in UK and USA. And a short comedy film Isodate in 2021 about the obstacles of socially distanced dating.

She is a member of Bafta Connect, Cinesisters, Writers Guild of Ireland and AVU (Animation and Visual Effects Union - a Branch of BECTU).
